Youth & Community

Youth and Community at the carnival

Our youth and community work comprises an extensive programme of activities and sessions for young people aged 11-24 across Eastbourne. Music projects, freestyle gymnastics, football and healthy living sessions are just some of the many and varied activities on offer. These sessions provide young people with the opportunity to try new things, make new friends and access the support of staff and volunteers.

A significant part of our community-based work is Charlie's Youth Access Centre, a drop-in service for the most disadvantaged, disengaged and vulnerable young people aged 15-21. Staff are on hand to support young people with budgeting advice, college or job applications, and sign posting to other relevant services.

This work takes place across the town, and at Charlie's Youth Centre on Seaside. Charlie's was gifted to the YMCA and has undergone substantial development. It has a well equipped kitchen, washing machines and showers which can be used by all young people, as well as internet access and a pool table!
